Brown
Many
visitors to the Flickboard have taken note of the striking irony: Brown,
who in all other respects could be characterized as a brooding,
self-defeating pessimist, consistently turns out the highest flick ratings
of any member. "I think of myself as a representative for the
common man here," says Brown. "The rest of these jackasses
are compulsive movie watchers." His rant continues: "I
mean Christ, get a life!"
But
fellow Flickboard staffers quickly discount Brown's seemingly indifferent
attitude. "Don't believe a word of it, especially after what
came out last June," says Beth, referring to the widely-publicized
news that Brown often calls upon the ghost of Gene Siskel for advice on
ratings. "He was the fat one, right?" Brown asks with a
wry grin, playing
possum like a champ.
With a slew of perfect '10' ratings and his
whopping 93% rate of recommendation in tow, Brown shows no signs of
backing off his 'everyman' approach.
