Kilty
A
Flickboard fanatic since its inception back in '97, Kilty has spent the
best years of his life waging a war for admission. How did this
groupie-turned-member gain entrance where so many others have
failed? Billy explains: "Listen, we get more applicants than 'Who Wants to be
a Millionaire'," he says. "But Kilty forced us to take
notice. Let's face it, the kid's seen more movies than a teenager
with Mono!"
But
in the quiet hours, when the harsh glare of the spotlight is far away,
Flickboard founder JT
tells a much different story. "It was nothing less than a
campaign of terror," he begins, hands quivering and face growing pale
with the memory. "I remember like it was yesterday. I was
leaving work late one night...it was pitch dark...I was at my car,
fumbling to unlock the door...and a voice came out of nowhere. It
was a piercing, insidious whisper. It said 'build the eighth
column and he will come'."
When
questioned about the story, Kilty will neither confirm nor deny its
accuracy. "Look, let's not split hairs," he says.
"So what if I made Glenn Close look like a softie in 'Fatal
Attraction'? The point is I wouldn't take no for an answer.
This is a testament to the power of perseverance."
But
at what cost has membership come? "Oh, I won't sugarcoat this
for you," says Kilty in painful reflection. "I've
dedicated most of my life to becoming a member of the RFB. I've lost my
job, my friends, and obviously most of my hair."
No
longer on the outside looking
in, Kilty has attacked his new role with a vengeance - his vault to 2nd
place in movies seen is unprecedented for a new admit. It's 150
flicks and counting for this new kid on the block.
