Mamakins
Originally
with Beth, and now with Chrissy, the Mamakins brings a much-needed break from the testosterone to
the Flickboard. Known at local theaters as "Matinee Mama"
due to her early bedtime, this veteran movie critic has been a welcome
addition to the staff.
With
her low tolerance for violence and a keen eye for symbolism and
foreshadowing, Mamakins is the perfect foil to The Pops, with whom she
frequently has the misfortune of watching movies. "If there are more
than two characters, The Pops immediately declares the film 'too compo',"
she explains. "But I'm working on making him a more intelligent
critic," she says. "Another 15 years or so on top of the 30 we've already had should do it."
With
an uncanny ability to find those off-the-beaten-path, diamond-in-the-rough
movies that mainstream players like Billy never consider, Mamakins brings
an essential balance to the ratings board that couldn't be done without.
